Conor Johnston

Conor Johnston was born on 10th April 1993 in North Ayrshire, Scotland.  Conor has worked in the Health & Social Care Sector in Scotland for the last 10 years, gaining a HNC in Social Services, however one of his interests and passions is growing and maintaining a beard.  Conor started his beard journey at the age of 21, however it wasn't until 2022 he took the beard journey more seriously.  Conor has invested time and effort in research regarding all aspects of growing and maintaining a beard, beard care, grooming and the positive effects beards can have on men's mental health and wellbeing.  Conor is also part of the bearded community in his local community, who promote and encourage men who are interested in growing a beard.  Conor was born three months (12 weeks) premature which has affected his vision leading him to be visually impaired.  Conor does have useable vision, however his low vision doesn't stop him from living a full and independent life.  Conor started losing his hair at the age of 18 and for the last several years has buzzed his hair to a zero guard.  Conor has recently started shaving his hair with a razor for a cleaner and smoother look.  Conor also suffers from mental health related illnesses which include anxiety, depression and panic attacks to which he takes medication for.  Conor is open in regards to his mental health issues and hopes to encourage men to be more open in regards to their own mental health issues.
